Update on South Africa’s 2022/2023 Table Grape Season
Given the abovementioned events, data indicates that the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces will likely not meet original export volume estimates. Further detail will be provided on the 21st of December 2022, after the completed crop estimate review.
As an industry, we remain committed to maintaining South Africa’s position as a quality Southern Hemisphere export nation. Following events that impacted the industry last season, a tremendous amount of work has gone into maintaining our status as the preferred supplier in traditional markets such as the EU, UK and other relevant markets. Producers and exporters continue to prioritise customers and markets as per their operational and commercial commitments.
We can confirm that the combined volumes of the Olifants River, Hex River and Berg River Regions historically contribute approximately 62% to exports, and these regions are only beginning to harvest now.
Please look out for our media statement early next week, which will contain revised volume estimates.
