Prime

Prime is the earliest South African seedless export variety and was developed by The Volcani institute in Israel. The berries are round and of average size for seedless varieties. Bunches are well filled, without being compact and the variety has a good shelf life. It has a light muscat flavour - a fresh crispy new season taste!

 
 

 

Flame Seedless

A multiple cross of, amongst others, Cardinal, Sultana, Malaga and Muscat d'Alexandrie. It was released in California in 1973. The first South African red seedless variety, with attractive colour and a very pleasant taste! The berries may be slightly smaller that the other red seedless varieties, but the crispy taste makes up for this. South Africa's Flame Seedless is recognised as being amongst the best in the world.

 
 

 

Sugraone

Sugraone was developed in California by crossing Cardinal and an unnamed seedling. It is a white seedless variety with exceptional large berries for an early, seedless variety. It has a good shelf life. The berries have a slight muscat flavour when fully matured.

 
 

 

Thompson Seedless

South Africa's most important white seedless cultivar! It belongs to the Sultanina family and has no rudimentary seeds. It has elongated berries, good bunch sizes, with a fleshy, melting taste. South Africa Thompson Seedless in know for its outstanding appearance and quality.

 
 

 

Sunred Seedless

Sunred Seedless, a cross between Datal and Ruby Seedless, is a mid-season red seedless selection developed at Nietvoorbij. It bears large bunches which are well filled, with good size oval shaped berries of a deep maroon-red colour. The berries are firm and crunchy. An excellent taste experience!

 
 

 

Red Globe

Red Globe is a multiple cross between, amongst others, Red Emperor, Hunisa and Nocera, which were eventually again crossed with one another to obtain the new selection. Red Globe has very large berries, which develop a wine-red colour. The berries are firm and fleshy with a strong skin. The South African Red Globe eats well and is extremely attractive with a good shelf life. It has a fleshy melting sweet flavour.

 
 

 

Alphonse Lavallée

Alphonse Lavallée, or Ribier, as it is known in Spanish speaking countries, is also known as Gros Noir, or "Big Black". It is a seedling that was selected in France. It was imported from Argentina into South Africa in 1926 and remains the prince of seeded black grapes in the country. Alphonse Lavallée has cripsy large black berries with an outstanding eating quality.

 
 

 

La Rochelle

La Rochelle is one of South Africa's mid-season noble black seeded varieties. The large, crunchy berries present a unique grape eating experience. The bunches are well- filled, uniquely dark black coloured and the berry size is naturally better than that of the Alphonse Lavallée. Good keeping quality and outstanding shelf life!

 
 

 

Crimson Seedless

Crimson Seedless is a red, mid-to late season seedless variety developed by D.Ramming in California. It normally ripens one week later than Sunred Seedless. Crimson tends to ripen well on the vine, extending the season for seedless grapes. The bunches are attractive, filled with slightly elongated berries of a maroon-red colour. Crimson has a melting crispy flavourand sweet taste.

 
 

 

Bonheur

Bonheur is La Rochelle's sister. This noble variety was also developed by crossing Barlinka and Alphonse Lavallée. Bonheur has established its own reputation amongst those consumers who still value the extra taste experience that seeded varieties bring to them. Firm, crunchy berries gives bunches an attractive appearance and there is a guarantee of outstanding eating quality.

 
 

 

Dauphine

Dauphine is the latest white seeded variety, filling an important gap at the end of the South African season. It was released to South African growers in 1984. Dauphine is a vigorous grower, with large bunches. The grapes are very attractive and have a lovely colour when fully matured. The tast is excellent, reflecting the inherent goodness of late maturing varieties.

 
 

 

Barlinka

Barlinka arrived in South Africa nearly a century ago and still plays an important role in the late South African marketing season. It is know as "Mr Reliable" with the bunches ripening well on the vine for a late harvest taste experience. Careful selection of new clones has boosted berry colour and size and the variety normally has excellent shelf life. Late season Barlinka is crunchy with good eating quality.
